Mrigavadhe is a place located at a distance of 26 Km south-east of Thirthahalli in Shimoga district.

A Place Related to Epic Ramayana

Indian great epic Ramayana is linked with this place. As per the legend, Maricha a relative of demon king Ravana came in the disguise of a golden deer to enchant Sita.

Sita requested her husband Rama to catch and get the deer. Rama followed the deer and killed it. Mrigavadhe is the place where Rama killed the deer.

Mrigavadhe means ‘Killing of an Animal’ in Kannada language.

Mrigavadhe is famous for its Mallikarjuna temple and scenic beauty.

A car festival is held here in Phalguna masa on this auspicious day which attracts a huge number of devotees who participate in great devotion.
