The famous Sri Nimishamba Temple
is situated in Mandya District. From
Srirangapatna town, it is about 2.5 km distance located on basin of Cauvery
River at Ganjam village.
Existing temple was constructed as per the Agamoktha system. Idols were installed
on the basis of Shivapanchayathana
system. Here Sri Nimishambadevi, with Sreechakra
Sri Moukthikeshwara Swamy and Sri Lakshminarayana Swamy along with the idols of
Surya Deva, Ganapathi, and Hunuman can be seen.
History
During the period of 1578 to 1617, Srirangapatna was the capital city of Mysore. During that period, Raja Wodeyar of Mysore installed Sri Nimishambadevi, and reconstructed the temple of Sri Nimishambadevi with Shreechakra.
