Lavanya Gowri Vrata

Significance

Lavanya Gowri Vrata or Lavanya Gowri Vrata is an auspicious day dedicated to Goddess Parvati.

Observance

The fasting observed on the day by women of certain Hindu communities is dedicated to Goddess Gowri  – another name of Goddess Parvati.

Lavanya Gowri Vrata is observed on the fifth day during the waxing phase of moon in Chithirai month in Tamil Nadu. The corresponding month in Kannada calendar is the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha masa.

Lavanya Gowri Vrata is quite similar to the famous Swarna Gowri Vrata observed in Karnataka during Ganesha Chaturthi.
