Vamana Jayanti or pooja is an
annual Hindu festival observed in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. The festival
is dedicated to Lord Vamana, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. This year
the date falls on 29 August 2020. The festival is also known as Vamana Dwadashi
as the festival is usually observed on the Dwadashi Tithi. To know more about

Muhurta For Vamana Dwadashi
The Vamana Jayanti is observed
every year on the Dwadashi (twelfth) tithi of Shukla Paksha. Since Lord Vamana
was born under the Shravan Nakshatra, the festival is usually observed during
the Shravana Muhurta.
Rituals
On this day devotees of Lord Vishnu wakes up early and takes a bath after they freshen up. Then they wear a clean and/or new clothes and offer Arghya to Lord Vishnu. They place a Kalasha in pooja room or at the place where they will be performing the pooja for Vamana Jayanti. Then, they make a clay idol of Lord Vamana and worship Him by offering all those things which are dear to Lord Vishnu. They make a resolution to observe a strict fast throughout the day. A few people even perform Hawana to please Lord Vamana. Some people listen to the Katha of Lord Vamana and ask their family members the same. People can also donate grains, money, clothes, etc. to the poor people.
