Vishnupada Punyakala is an
auspicious period dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are four Vishnupada Parva
Punyakala days in a traditional Hindu calendar and this is more closely
associated with Tamil Vaishnava culture. A particular period on the day is
considered highly auspicious for worshiping Narayana (Lord Vishnu).
The belief is that Lord Vishnu performed numerous divine actions essential for the welfare of the universe during the Vishnupada Parva Punyakala. Some people also believe that the prayers and pujas offered during period helps in attaining Moksha. The period of Vishnupada Punyakala usually occurs the first day of particular Tamil months.
