After celebrating Diwali at the
end of Ashwayuja, Jains celebrate New Year on the first day of the following
month of Kartika. Ritual of Snatra Pooja
is performed at the temple. Mahavira's chief disciple Gautama Swami attained
keval gyan on this day.
