The legend of Vasanta Panchami

As per Puranas, Lord Brahma created the world in the beginning. It included all living creatures including the human life. But because of the unpleasant silence, he felt that there is something lacking in this creation. Then he discussed this matter with Sri Vishnu and finally invited the Goddess Saraswati to grant the power of speech to the living beings of the earth. Goddess manifested in front of Sri Brahma and was holding a Veena (harp), book, with a blessing gesture. She infused sound into the atmosphere of the whole world by playing her magical and celestial veena. As a result, words started emerging in this world in every action and reaction. Humans started uttering words and started learning its usage in the form of sentences. She also granted the voice to various creatures like humming bees, chirping birds, and other animals. Not only this, she infused musical sound even in the flow of breeze and the passage of rivers. On this very day, the Goddess of music and wisdom manifested for the first time. We can find the mention and worship of the Goddess in many places including the Rig Veda.
